LoBsterCon XVII

It’s finally here! A new website, and booking for LoBsterCon XVII!

Tickets available on the door

The hotel is full, but if you’re interested in sharing a Twin (or have booked a Twin and willing to share), please get in touch.

Online booking is now closed, but you may still get day and weekend passes on the door. However, you will not be entered into the raffle if you do.

We will have two competitions this time:

  • a dexterity 4×4 on Sunday morning downstairs in the competition area (sign up sheets available at the welcome desk), run by Alex
  • and a croquet tournament at the local club, hosted by Robin. Tickets are sold out, but get in touch to be placed on the waitlist in case someone pulls out.

An old longstanding tradition, perhaps fading, its origins lost in the sands of time, perhaps best forgotten, Chris Marling is a well known fledgling designer of games and LoBsterCon organiser.
He also curates the LoBsterCon What Are You Bringing / What Are You Looking to Play Geeklist on BGG.

What’s the situation with gaming upstairs? I know part of it has been turned into a restaurant but not sure which area.

Because of limited train options, I’ll be arriving on Thursday evening (sleeping in an hotel nearby on that night only). Is anyone going to be there? Will it be possible to play some games on that evening? Also I would be happy to help setting things up etc. (I’m Ermanno btw)

My first time coming – is there a library there? I am coming on my own so will be wanting to join in on games.

Alex Bee

There is a small library of “giant” games, but attendees bring lots and lots of games, most of which are pooled into a common library. We never have a shortage of games by any means, but if you have any of your own please do bring them, but if you don’t you are guaranteed to find games and people to play them.

I’ve unfortunately had to cancel this year. The good news is that it means a twin bed is now available again.
The reason for this is that I’m starting a new job that same week and the onboarding process involves me being in another country. So that makes it a bit difficult to show up in Eastbourne. I should be able to make it for the next one and Immelda has said she’ll be joining me next time. Have lots of fun, wish I could be there.

I thought the event was being launched today, or so I read here a week ago. It now seems it was opened a week ago! I’m confused. The hotel is now fully booked to boot! 🙁

There will be a sign up sheet for the Dexterity Challenge at the welcome desk. Please add or remove your name to secure or give up your spot.
For the Croquet Tournament please buy a ticket from the Shop here to secure your spot (sorry no refunds but tickets are transferable).
For all other activities spots are not limited so please just join in !!!

Lovely selection of hotels. For only £450 pounds, you could stay 1.5 miles from the con site.

Actually, that might be worth it.

Hi all,
I booked a superior twin room and don’t currently have a person to take the second bed. Anyone is interested?
Apparently I am told I’m a snorer (I can’t hear myself for some reason), so keep that in mind. It doesn’t sell it much, I guess… I’ll do what I can to avoid it, is that better?
Let me know!

Update: bed’s taken!

So is this the new forum for the conrather than meetup?

Alex Bee

What’s missing here is some sort of geeklist. Do we have someone who does that?

Legends foretell of a man called… Chris

If you want to avoid those pesky single occupancy fees, or there’s no room at the in, or you want to save some cash, or you simply have to be in the hotel. Please feel free to advertise room sharing here.
If you’ve already booked and need help sorting things out with the hotel just email me at the organisers@lobstercon.uk address.
